Meditation
Imagine you area weighed down with soft earth, slowly becoming the earth itself as it settles and shifts and breathes. You feel as if you are the sun - warmed soil, your skin is the grass in the breeze.
Pressed down gently your sense of here widens till you become the peat and the dessert; the earth under the ice and the earth under the oceans. You find yourself descending through the strata of your relaxation as if pulled down magnetically until you rest in your own core where you are strong and untroubled by the disturbances of the surface, thousands of miles above you.

As you make your way up to a seated position it is with a residual sense of your connection to the earth, you could be anywhere on it and you would be home. When you walk you might notice that your steps are more cetain, one foot holds you and then the other, you are sturdy. Life could hurtle itself towards you and you would not tip over. You would embrace all of life.

It is recommended to practice restorative opening postures that facilitate surrender to the Earth. For example, practice Supta Boddha Konasana (Reclined Bound Angle pose) and feel the work of gravity opening the hips. Draw awareness to the palms of the hands, feel the heaviness in the palms as you offer something and allow yourself to be receptive to the universe. You can feel your back expanding into the mat as you breathe and focus on this connection to the Earth. Other passive stretches that stimulate Muladhara are child’s pose, or a supported Bridge pose.
